Why I built this

I should be upfront about something. I am not a business guru, and I do not have a course to sell you. I am just the person who got frustrated enough with bad advice to build the site I wish had already existed.

A few years ago I wanted to start something of my own. I did what everyone does. I searched, I watched videos, and I read article after article about the best businesses to start. Almost all of it was selling me something. A course, a coaching call, an affiliate link to a tool I did not need. The numbers were always the flattering ones. You would see the person who hit five figures in their first month, and never the twelve months most people quietly earn close to nothing.

I got close to putting real money into an idea because a polished video made it look simple. When I finally sat down and did the math myself, counting the fees, the returns, the ad spend, and the hours, the whole thing came apart. It was not a business. It was a thumbnail.

What I could not find anywhere was someone willing to just tell me the boring truth. What does it really cost. How long before you earn anything real. What are the honest odds. What goes wrong, and who it goes wrong for. So I started keeping my own notes. One spreadsheet turned into a folder of them, plain breakdowns of every model I looked into, written the way I wished someone had explained it to me.

That folder is basically this website now. I kept noticing that other people were typing the same questions into Google and getting the same sales pitches I did. Honestly Profitable is my answer to that. It is the reference I needed and could not find, so I made it.

I founded and launched Honestly Profitable, and I still set the standard for every page. The library has grown far beyond what one person can research alone, so the breakdowns are now produced and reviewed by our editorial team. That is why each article is credited to the Honestly Profitable Editorial Team rather than to me. The mission has not changed: honest numbers, real risks, and nothing to sell you.

What I promise you

• Real ranges, not best-case numbers. Beginner, experienced, and top-earner outcomes are kept separate, because blending them together is exactly how people get misled.
• The hard parts come first. If a business is expensive, heavily regulated, or fails often, I say so plainly, right on the page, not in the fine print.
• No courses, no upsells, no secret system. I have nothing to sell you, so I have no reason to hype anything.
• If I would not say the number to a friend with a straight face, it does not go on the page.

Our editorial team builds every breakdown from public data, industry cost guides, government wage figures, and the accounts of people who actually run these businesses. We are not affiliated with any company, franchise, or tool mentioned here, and nobody pays to be included or described more kindly. How the site stays free

I want to be honest about the money too. This site is free, and advertising is what keeps it that way. Honestly Profitable may show ads from networks such as Google AdSense. I keep them clearly labeled, well away from the cost and earnings figures, and never dressed up as a recommendation. Ads have no influence over which businesses I cover or what I say about them. Editorial independence

My only real obligation is to the person reading a page and trying to make a genuine decision. No advertiser, and no business I write about, gets a say in the research or the numbers. That line is the entire point of the site, and I do not cross it.

Accuracy is the whole job. If a number looks off or out of date, especially if you run one of these businesses yourself, I genuinely want to hear about it. Send it through the contact page and I will look into it and fix the page if you are right. I would much rather be corrected than be wrong.
